PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fold packing paper hanging on a side face of a coil into a chrysanthemum form. SOLUTION: The packing paper 10 on the side face of the coil 11 is pressed by a press roll 3 and a paper feed roll 1. The paper 10 is pinched between a pinch roll 2 and the roll 1 in a through hole of the coil 11. The roll 2 is driven to rotate, and the paper 10 is fed by the rolls 2, 1 to form a peak. After the rotation stops, both rolls 1, 2 are pivoted with the paper 10 pinched between both rolls 1, 2. After the pivoting stops, both rolls 1, 2 are moved toward an axial core of the coil 11 with the paper 10 pinched to draw the paper 10 to remove wrinkles and deviation. Then pinching of the paper 10 between the rolls 1, 2 is released, the rolls 1, 3 in an idle state are rotated in a direction toward the roll 3, and the formed peak is pressed against the side face of the coil 11 to make it flat. Thereafter, the rolls 1, 3 are rotated in a reverse direction to further press the flattened peak to complete folding one peak into a chrysanthemum form. By repeating the above processes, a plurality of chrysanthemum folds are formed. |
