PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple oxide catalyst suitable for the production of acrylic acid by gas phase catalystic oxidation of acrolein, and to provide a method of producing acrylinc acid by gas phase oxidation of acrolein using the multiple oxide. SOLUTION: This catalyst is expressed by general formula (1): MoaVbWcCudAeBfCgDhEiOx. In formula (1), A is at least one element selected from Sb, Nb and Sn, B is at least one element selected from alkaline earth metals, C is at least one element selected from Si, Al, Ti and Zr, D is at least one element selected from P, Te, Ce, Pb, As and Zn, E is at least one element selected from group IA elements, group IIIB elements in the periodical table, B, Fe, Bi, Co, Ni and Mn, O is oxygen, and (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) and (x) represent the atomic ratios of Mo, V, W, Cu, A, B, C, D, E and O, respectively. |
