PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved ratchet-type hand tool capable of providing additional structural and operational advantages while eliminating drawbacks of a conventional ratchet-type hand tool. SOLUTION: An insulating ratchet-type screw driver 10 is provided with an elongated compound shank 40 made of an insulating material and a bit holder 45 at a working end 43. The other end of the shank 40 is formed with an axial recessed part 42 in which one end of a hexagonal connecting pin 50 is pres-fitted, while the other end thereof is pres-fitted in an axial hole 36 formed at one end of a metallic coupler 31 to enable connection between the coupler 31 and the shank 40. The metallic coupler 31 is removably received by a receiving part 22 formed in a ratchet mechanism 20 disposed at one end of an elongated insulating handle 11.
