PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract and display an area at a prescribed distance (depth) from the surface of an extracted organ as the surface, and to change the prescribed distance from the surface of the extracted organ arbitrarily. SOLUTION: The image processing of the ultrasonic diagnostic imaging apparatus is divided into the following five main processes; a process about a surface extraction position of a first layer (Steps S10-S13), a process of arbitrarily changing a prescribed distance (depth) (Steps S15, S16), a process of changing a different distance (depth) (Steps S20-S22), an image synthesizing process (Steps S17 and S18), and a moving picture reproducing process (Step S19).
