PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of condensate of water on the upper part of the periphery of an inner surface of a pot and a cover packing upon retaining heat and prevent rice from containing an excess of water. SOLUTION: The upper part of the periphery of an inner surface of a pot 11 comes in contact with or near to an inner cover 34. A cover packing 35 is provided outside the contact or neighboring part 41 of the pot 11 and the inner cover 34. A cover heater 46 for heating the inner cover 34 formed in a cover body 26 is located in the contact or neighboring part 41 of the pot 11 and the inner cover 34. While rice is cooked or heat is retained, the contact or neighboring part 41 of the pot 11 and the inner cover 34 and the cover packing 35 are heated by the cover heater 46.
