1317768 Plant growth regulation using phosphonates E I DU FONT DE NEMOURS & CO 4 Aug 1970 [14 Aug 1969 (2)] 37637/70 Heading ClB [Also in Division C2] A method for regulating the growth of plants comprises applying to a locus thereof a di- (hydrocarbyl)carbamoylphosphonate of formula wherein R and R 1 are alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl or benzyl; R 2 and R 3 are H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; or R 2 and R 3 can be taken together to form a bridge -(CH 2 ) 2 -O-(CH 2 ) 2 - or -(CH 2 ) n - where n is 4, 5 or 6; and one of R 2 and R 3 can be -NR 4 R 5 wherein R 4 and R 5 are are H or alkyl. Compounds exemplified are dimethyl, diethyl, diisopropyl, diallyl and dimethallyl carbamoylphosphonates. The method finds application in respect of sugar-containing crops and woody plants. |
