PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb large relative displacement generated by an earthquake between non-base-isolated building as a foundation part building and a base- isolated building of an upper part building, so as to enhance earthquake resistivity and safety. SOLUTION: A relative displacement absorber constituted to support one side member and the other side member to make the relative displacement substantially zero when displacement force is a prescribed value or less in the case where the displacement force is received to generate the diplacement, and to bring displacement along a direction to generate the relative displacement when the force exceeds the prescribed value F1 is used as a guide rail supporting device for supporting a guide rail, one end of the absorber is attached to the guide rail, and the other end thereof is attached to a wall face of an elevator shaft.
