PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user from replacing an ink cartridge and surely hold a state in which the cartridge is perfectly set during a time when a printer is accessing a memory medium of the cartridge. SOLUTION: When detecting that an ink cartridge replacement button 9 is depressed and the ink cartridge 13 is about to be replaced, a printing control part 25 of the ink-jet printer 1 supplies electricity to an EEPROM 11 of the ink cartridge 13 after a cartridge holder 5 is moved to a place where the ink cartridge cannot be replaced. After specific information is completely written to the EEPROM 11, the power supply to the EEPROM 11 of the ink cartridge 13 is promptly stopped. Thereafter the cartridge holder 5 is moved to a place 7 where the ink cartridge can be replaced and the user is allowed to replace the ink cartridge 13. |
