PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of the entwining of a long straw, etc., between an end of a tilling tine shaft and the side of a bearing (transmission case, etc.), and the entwining on the tilling tine and a tilling pipe and, in extreme case, causing the oil leakage from the sealing part of the bearing in the case of digging the soil surface with the tilling pipe attached with tilling tines. SOLUTION: The rotary tiller is provided with a tilling tine shaft 2 having a plurality of tilling tines 1, 1... attached to the shaft in arranged manner. The tips of the tines 1 at the right and left ends are bent inward when viewed from the back. An end of the shaft 2 is supported with a transmission case 4 containing a transmission gear 3 and the other end of the shaft 2 is rotatably supported by a supporting frame 8. In the side drive rotary tiller 20 having the above structure, right and left rotary disks 5, 5 each having a diameter nearly equal to the digging outer diameter of the tilling tines 1, 1... are inserted between the transmission case 4 and the tine 1 at the side of the end of the shaft and between the supporting frame 8 and the above tine 1. The right and left disks 5, 5 are linked with each other through four rods 32 positioned at nearly equal intervals on a circle having a diameter nearly equal to a half of that of the rotary disk 5.
