PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fatigue of a worker's hand to preclude an unsafe action such as falling-off of a flaw detector for a rope and erroneous flaw detection from being generated. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a hook 8 provided in the flaw detector 5 for the rope, and a suspension string 9 of which one end is attached to a spring rod 10 of a magnet brake in a winding machine and of which the other end is attached to the hook 8. A handle 5C provided in the flaw detector 5 is gripped in a condition where the flaw detector 5 is suspended with the string 9, and a detecting part 5B of the flaw detector 5 is approached to or brought into contact with a surface of the rope 4.
