[Also in Division B8] A structural product comprises a prismatic band 3 of honeycomb material which may be of kraft paper or thin metal foil and a wrapper 9 formed of at least one flexible sheet such as kraft paper folded along four edges of the prismatic band and adhered to four sides thereof The wrapper may comprise one sheet folded around three sides of the honeycomb and parts of the fourth side and a strip covering the fourth side, or may consist of two U-shaped sheets each covering or partly covering three sides of the core and overlapping each other. A second wrapper may be wrapped around the block at. right-angles to the first to cover the open end faces. The honeycomb core may have side fins which are angled and adhered to the walls of the wrapper. The product is formed by cutting up a continuous plank produced by passing flexible sheeting 33 under scoring wheels 39 and into a folder 31 together with a band 49 of honeycomb material coated on four sides with adhesive by means of applicator shoes 51 and corrugated rollers 55. The product is used in supporting blocks for pallet boards. |
