METHOD FOR APPLYING PATTERN COATING TO OUTER PANEL OF CAR BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern coating method for forming a pattern coating film of which the color is not influenced by the coating color of the topcoating film applied to the outer panel of a car body. SOLUTION: A method for applying pattern coating to the surface of the topcoating film applied to the outer panel of a car body has (1) a process for applying a white substrate paint, wherein the L* value in an L*a*b* color system of a concealing coating film is within a range of 70-85, to a place where a pattern must be formed by an automatic coating machine having a coating head equipped with an exclusive fine caliber nozzle to form a coating film of which the L* value is 65-85 and the value of [(a*)2+(b*)2]1/2 is 15 or less, (2) a process for drawing a pattern on the white substrate coating film by a pattern forming coating using the automatic coating machine to form a pattern coating film and (3) a process for applying a clear coating on the pattern coating film.
