PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace an empty bobbin having no thread with new one easily in a short time. SOLUTION: This bobbin holder 2 has a holding part 25 which holds a combined body 13 that is composed of a set of a bobbin 10 and a case therefor 12 and is fitted in a shuttle 9 for a sewing machine in such a combined manner. The holding part 25 has a pair of openings 27, 28 to expose opposite end faces 13a, 13b of the body 13 in the shaft hole length direction of the bobbin 10 so that the faces 13a, 13b can be held by two fingers, and a passage 29 to communicate opposite openings 27, 28 with each other so that the body 13 can be taken out while the faces 13a, 13b are held thereby.
