PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-coating composition using hollow polymer particle as a pigment, and excellent in white paper gloss, whiteness and non- transparency. SOLUTION: This paper-coating composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. pigment consisting of 100-0.1 pt.wt. polymer particles having 5-80% hollow volume rate and 0-99.9 pt.wt. another pigment with (B) 1-50 pt.wt. a latex of a copolymer, as a solid portion, which is a diene-based copolymer latex having a specific composition and containing 0-95 wt.% content of its component detected earlier than a eluting time corresponding to 1,000,000 molecular weight and 30,000-400,000 weight-average molecular weight of its component detected later than the eluting time corresponding to 1,000,000 molecular weight on measuring the copolymer with a GPC.
