PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a raw material (thio)epoxy compound for suppressing white cloudiness of a cured (thio)epoxy resin excellent in optical physical properties and having a very high refractivity. SOLUTION: This method for obtaining a (thio)epoxy compound of which cured resin does not have white cloudiness, is provided by mixing and agitating an inert polar solvent with the (thio)epoxy compound having >=1 structures expressed by the following formula (1) wherein, R1, R2, R3 are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon group or H; X is O or S in its molecule, removing the polar solvent layer after standing still and then distilling off the remaining dissolved polar solvent.
