PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transesterification of an aromatic polycarbonate excellent in clarity and color tone by preventing crystallized contaminants from coming into the same. SOLUTION: This aromatic polycarbonate, obtained by the transesterificarion of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic diester, contains 1,000/g or less contaminants having a size of 1-2μm and melting at 240 deg.C or higher but not higher than 360 deg.C.
