PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which can reduce power consumption throughout a heating operation for cooking rice and a subsequent heat retaining operation. SOLUTION: Heat storage members 24 and 31 including a latent heat storage material are arranged between the inner case 22 and the outer case 21 of a cover body 4 with which an inner pot 2 is converted from an upper part and between the inner case 6 and the outer case 5 of a device body 3 in which the inner pot 2 is accommodated. During a heating operation for cooking rice, the quantity of diffused heat from the inner pot 2 is stored in the heat storage members 24 and 31. During a heat retaining operation, the quantity of stored heat is discharged and this heat contributes to the heat retaining operation. Thus, the quantity of diffused heat during the heating operation for cooking rice is effectively used for the heat retaining operation. Thus the amount of power supplied to heaters 11, 12 and 13 during the heat retaining operation can be more reduced, so that the power consumption can be entirely reduced.
