PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a hydraulic drive winch capable of preventing surely a motor from being rotated to the lowering side at the time of heavy load hoisting, and capable of starting and stopping smoothly the hydraulic drive winch. SOLUTION: This control device for the hydraulic drive winch equipped with a drive motor 6 for rotating a winch drum 10 through a clutch 9, and a winding directional control valve 3 for guiding a pressure oil from a pressure oil source to the drive motor 10, has such a characteristic as to have reverse rotation preventing means 11, 13, 16 for blocking rotation in the lowering direction of the drive motor 6 until a driving pressure of the drive motor 6 is raised to start rotation in the hoisting direction, when a hoisting operation of the winding directional control valve 3 is executed.
