PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar which is a bar capable of resisting force to cause destruction and yet destroying itself before the force grows to a powerful force to destroy a bar holder. SOLUTION: The bar holder for a saw chain to be attached to a cutting machine is combined with a guide bar 3. The bar holder is equipped with a fixing boss 56. The tail end of the guide bar 38 has such a shape as to be mounted on the boss 56 so that the tail end of the guide bar 38 is neither pivoted nor moved relatively to the boss 56. During the operation of the cutting machine, when the boss 56 and the tail end of the bar 38 are to be mutually relatively pivoted and moved, the boss 56 is made to be destroyed by a fixed pivoting and moving force. However, the tail end is made to be destroyed by a pivoting and moving force smaller than the fixed pivoting and moving force.
