A vacuum tank 1 has a water inlet connection 6 and is connected to a vacuum pump (3) coupled to a motor (4) which also drives a water pump (5) the inlet of which is directly connected to the tank, two float valve members 14, 16 being provided operated by a float 10 through push rods 12, 13, the member 16 being rigidly attached to push rod 13 and controlling the vacuum connection through pipe 2, and member 4 opening the tank to atmosphere. Water is drawn into the tank through connection 6, pipe (7) and nozzles (8) and lifts float 10 which operates member 16 to cut-off the vacuum and further upward movement lifts member 14 off its seating 15 to open tank 1 to atmosphere. The connection 6 is connected to a well for lowering ground water level.</p> |
