PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely prevent the jumping phenomenon of a serrated toothed belt even in the case were the serrated tooth belt of fine tooth pitch and low tooth height as a driving transfer means to a carriage is used, and realize stabilized carriage scanning without the necessity of large volume of a driving motor or an extra carriage position sensing means. SOLUTION: Members 10 for preventing jumping of a serrated toothed belt 5 are provided at given clearances (b) and with given inclinationθon positions located in the vicinity of a driving pulley 6 of the serrated toothed belt 5 connected with a carriage 2 on which a recording head 1 is mounted and facing the back of the sections on the carriage connecting side.
