PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of the incomplete extinguish of cigarette even by pressing with an ashtray to cause the fire hazard by the spreading of the fire to the butt in the tray and the generation of smoke in the crushing of the cigarette to give annoyance to the persons nearby. SOLUTION: Water M is poured into a vessel body 9 attached to an ashtray 1 and a burning cigarette T is extinguished by putting the tip of the cigarette into the water M in the vessel 9. The extinguished cigarette T is disposed in the ashtray 1. The burning cigarette T can be surely extinguished without generating smoke by the immersion of the tip end of the cigarette T in water M. Since the vessel body 9 is attached to the ashtray 1, in other word the ashtray is provided with the cigarette extinguishing vessel 7, the vessel 9 is always positioned close to the smoking person together with the ashtray 1 to prevent the careless loss of the vessel body 9.
