PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject apparatus extremely reduced in equipment cost by effectively putting the amorphous broken small pieces of a PET bottle becoming industrial waste to practical use as a filter medium. SOLUTION: Microorganism culturing filter parts 1 housing broken small pieces 1' of a PET bottle are formed in a necessary number of small-sized aeration tanks a1 storing sewage (water to be treated) treated per a day in a food processing factory and the sewage (water to be treated) passed through each microorganism culturing filter part 1 is sent to the adjacent small-sized aeration tank a1 from the bottom of each tank al and, after the operation in the food processing factory is completed, the sewage (water to be treated) of the group of the small-sized aeration tanks a1 is forcibly circulated for a predetermined time by a circulating means 3 and a sensor means 4 of sewage (water to be treated) is provided to the desired small-sized aeration tank a1 and drain means 5 of sewage (water to be treated) are provided at a position higher than the height levels of the microorganism culturing filter parts 1 of the small-sized aeration tanks a1. The drain means 5 automatically drain cleaned water above the microorganism culturing filter parts 1 when the sensor means 4 detects that sewage is cleaned up to predetermined water quality.
