PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject gasket assuring seal function of door and capable of easily sealing it off. SOLUTION: This gasket 15 is provided with two substantilly U-shaped portions 15a, 15b mutually connected, i.e., a first portion 15a surrounding an edge of a door being in contact with an opening and a second portion 15b surrounding an edge of glass 13. The second portion 15b has a tab 16 for abuttement on the glass 13 of door extending almost perpendicularly to a body of the second portion 15b. An area between the body of the second portion 15b and the tab 16 supports a flange 17 extending toward an outer drum 18 of a washing machine. The flange 17 has at its outer part a lip 20 extending laterally when viewed from the lengthwise direction of the flange 17, and the lip 20 seals the drum 18 when the door is closed.
