PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving antipilling properties of an animal hair fiber having a low environmental loading without deteriorating the touch and water repellency which the animal hair fiber intrinsically possesses. SOLUTION: The method for treating the animal hair fiber comprises a step that the animal hair fiber is treated with ozone by spraying an aqueous treating liquid containing the ozone as <=10μm hyperfine bubble thereto in the aqueous treating liquid. Especially, a line mixer for making the hyperfine bubble of the ozone is used in the method for treating the animal hair fiber. An inorganic and/or an organic peroxide is further included in the treating liquid containing the ozone as the hyperfine bubble in the method for treating the animal hair fiber. The animal hair fiber is pretreated by impregnating into an aqueous solution containing salts of metals selected from transition metals, especially from the group composed of Cu, Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr and Zn to adsorb one or more kinds of the metallic salts thereinto and then subjected to the ozone treatment in the method for treating the animal hair fiber. |
