<p>Polyester moulded objects having a thickness of 0.5 - 15 cms. pref. 1 7 cms. and weighing 300 g - 15 kg. are prepd. by mixing a cross-linkable polyester resin 0.5 - 2% wt. of a peroxide catalyst, 0.008 - 0.05% wt. accelerator 0.3 - 3% wt. pearlising pigment and 0.01 - 1% wt. dye-stuff at 20 - 22 degrees C in air. The mix. is then poured into an open mould and allowed to polymerise and is removed after 2 to 3 days. The moulded object hardens completely after 2 to 3 weeks, but if the polymn. is activated by heating the mix. in the mould for 48 hrs. at 30 - 35 degrees C., it hardens after 10 - 15 days. Imitation mother-of-pearl buttons having an excellent finish and good colour are readily mfred. from these mouldings.</p> |
