Electrical cables can be supported on a floor by means of pre-formed elongate pieces of flame-retardant plastics sheeting 1. The sheeting is fixed to the floor during installation, eg by means of self-adhesive pads (4, Fig 2) and the cables are fixed to the sheeting by means of strips 2 of hook-and-loop type fastening material which attach to similar strips which bind the cables (not shown). In an alternative arrangement, the sheet is folded to form a box or duct (Fig 3). In a further arrangement, Fig 4, the sheet is used as a lining for a wire cable tray 20 to which it is attached. If the sheeting is made from twin walled material with longitudinal fluting, it provides extra rigidity to the tray. The sheeting may have an anti-static coating and may including conducting means to provide radio-frequency shielding. |
