A hearing device constructed in accordance with the present invention comprises a faceplate (40) housing defining a chamber (41), a microphone suspension grommet (44) attached to the faceplate housing and extending into the chamber, the grommet having a distal opening, and a microphone engaged by the distal opening (22). The hearing device preferably includes a windscreen on a proximal end of the microphone suspension grommet. By suspending the hearing device microphone within a receiver module, feedback problems resulting from vibrations generated within the hearing device are reduced. In addition, the windscreen reduces noise problems and protects the hearing device from damage due to contaminants such as dirt, moisture, and other debris. |
