<p>PURPOSE: A continuous hydrogenation method is provided to continuously hydrogenate anα-ketocarbonyl compound while maintaining an enantioselective characteristic high in the case of batch method by catalyzing a base comprising theα-ketocarbonyl compound with hydrogen under specific conditions in the presence of a modified platinum catalyst in a reactor while continuously supplying hydrogen. CONSTITUTION: Anα-ketocarbonyl compound is continuously hydrogenated by such processes that a base comprising theα-ketocarbonyl compound is catalyzed with hydrogen in the presence of a modified platinum catalyst, in the presence (absence) of a solvent, and also in the presence (absence) of a supercritical cosolvent in a reactor, at about 20-100 deg.C under a pressure of about 2-150 bar to convert the aboveα-ketocarbonyl compound into the correspondingα-hydroxycarbonyl compound, wherein the above base containing a modifier if necessary and hydrogen are continuously supplied to the reactor followed by continuously issuing the reaction product from the above reactor and collecting theα-hydroxycarbonyl compound from the above reaction product.</p> |
