PURPOSE: A method for negotiating a paying method in an electronic payment is provided to offer a convenience for a deciding a paying method of a client by selectively showing a paying method capable of being used as a paying method of a shopping mall through a negotiation of a paying method. CONSTITUTION: If a client enters a shopping mall and selects a commodity using a web browser(201) and selects a paying process(202), a POS of the shopping mall transmits a paying method list capable of being paid to a user's electronic pocketbook(203). The electronic pocketbook compares a paying method list registered by the client with the paying method list transmitted from the POS of the shopping mall(204). If the paying method list registered by the client does not exist in the paying method list transmitted from the POS of the shopping mall, a process impossible message is displayed to the client(205). If the paying method list registered by the client does exist, the paying method list corresponded to the electronic pocketbook is displayed as a paying method list capable of being used by the client. If the client selects the paying method, the requested user interface is provided for a payment using the corresponding electronic commercial transaction protocol(206¯208).
