PURPOSE: Provided is a stable organic electroluminescent device emitting red light, which has high brightness and is produced by using a styryl compound as a light emitting material. CONSTITUTION: The organic electroluminescent device comprises an organic layer having a luminescent region and contains at least one styryl compound represented by the formula(1), wherein R1 and R2 independently represent an aryl group of the formula(2), (3) or (4), wherein R3 to R21 independently represent a specific substituent group such as a hydrogen atom, a methoxy group, or the like, and X represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or a cyclic hydrocarbon group.
