PURPOSE: A method for controlling controller of an adaptive equalizer for high speed ethernet is provided to improve yield and reception rate by preventing reception error of the adaptive equalizer. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling controller of an adaptive equalizer for high speed ethernet includes following steps. The controller of the adaptive equalizer is supplied with control signals, up and down signals and decoding errors. The controller of the adaptive equalizer is initialized by initializing the control signals. The control signals are changed during predetermined time of periods and the decoding errors are accumulated, counted and latched. The counting operation is continued until the accumulated counting value is zero during the predetermined period.
