PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing a polytetramethylene ether glycol diester having an adequate molecular weight with relatively high polymerization yield. CONSTITUTION: The polytetramethylene ether glycol diester is prepared by polymerizing tetrahydrofuran in the presence of carboxylic acid with using a catalyst, wherein the catalyst is prepared by supporting tungsten or molybdenum on a support material by using an acid solution and dipping metal sulfide or chloride therein by using an acid solution and then sintering at a temperature of 500-900 deg.C.
