摘要 |
<p>PURPOSE: A high gradation display technology is provided to obtain gradation display which has satisfactory gradation reproducibility and color reproducibility and which are stable with time and are hardly effected by temperature changes. CONSTITUTION: Gradation change is performed by a means collectively modulating optical states of entire luminous fluxes and a means separately modulating optical states of respective luminous fluxes in a display cycle of a video. For example, a display cycle is equally divided into 8 pieces of sections and luminance of an optical source (batch optical modulation means) in a section k ( from 0 to 7) is made to proportional to 1/2k. Then, in each section, either a voltage V such as that liquid crystal (two-dimensional optical modulation means) becomes off or a voltage such as that it becomes on is applied to liquid crystals. Thus, linear 256 gradation can be obtained digitally in accordance with 28=256 kinds of voltage applying methods by performing gradation in the manner.</p> |
