The following are claimed: (A) a method for evaluating the possibility of cellular malignancy in a human host, comprising (a) contacting a probe specific for a cellular product (I) with a source (e.g. cells or physiological fluid) from the host suspected of contg. (I), where (I) is mRNA or its expression product, the mRNA being complementary to a DNA sequence of a retrovirus capable of transforming a normal cell to malignancy, and (b) determining the level of binding of the probe to (I) as indicative of the presence of cellular malignancy; and e.g. - (C) 41 antigenic oligopeptides (II), antibodies raised to such oligopeptides, and antigenic oligopeptides contg. up to 50 amino acid residues including one or more of the amino acid sequences of (II). - (Dwg.0/0)
