PURPOSE: An apparatus for discharging lump sintered ore in which middle sized ore is reduced and a method for controlling discharging thereof are provided to improve a recovery ratio and reduce maintenance cost by effectively preventing the surface impact during discharging of lump sintered ore after manufacturing sintered ore, thereby reducing the generation of middle sized ore. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a plurality of guide devices (201) installed at a frame (202) along the line of flow of a sintering car (101) reversed and equipped with a roller having the same width as that of the sintering car (101) for guiding lump sintered ore; a guiding plate (300) constructed by fixing a plurality of separation plates (302) at a support frame (301) for guiding the lump sintered ore falling along the guide devices (201) into a crusher (103) without any congestion; and a photo sensor (204a,204b) installed at the outer wall of the lower part of the frame (202) for monitoring the stagnation of the lump sintered ore. The method comprises the steps of monitoring whether or not the lump sintered ore is filled from the crusher to the upper part of the guiding plate with the photo sensor; stopping the sintering machine if the filled state is detected, and operating the crusher; and settling congestion of the lump sintered ore with a bar mounted to the end part of a cylinder by operating the cylinder when the sintered ore is congested.
