PURPOSE: A retention device has resistant force to outer force as much as a locking device even with a simple structure, and prevents clothes or body of a passenger from being hooked so as to assure safety. CONSTITUTION: A retention device comprises a case(35), a rotating axis(31), an actuating rod(32), a supporting rod(33) and a coil spring(34). The case(35) is installed on one side wall(11) of a car body(10). The rotating axis(31) is vertically installed in the case(35). The actuating rod(32) rotates to move in the case(35) when a slide door(20) closes. The supporting rod(33) supports the slide door(20) countering outer force and the end thereof is hook shaped so as to prevent clothes or body of a passenger from being hooked. The coil spring(34) elastically supports the actuating rod(32). The retention device has resistant force to outer force as much as a locking device even with a relatively simple structure.
