The partition (1) consists of a series of panels (3, 4, 5) which can be retracted into a storage position below floor level, where they stand parallel to one another, and deployed between the floor and ceiling through an aperture (11) by means of lifting screws (19). In the raised position the top panel is connected permanently to the lifting screws, while each of the panels beneath it is suspended from and locked to the one above by means of motorized vertical screws (25) in one panel and threaded blocks (27) in the other.
