PURPOSE: A method for alarming a rack power state of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) exchange is provided to detect the cutoff of rack power of the ATM exchange, and to inform an exchange operator of a detection result. CONSTITUTION: Power off detectors(100,102) check the state of rack power. If rack power is cut off, a detection signal according to an operation of the power cutoff is outputted to an OR gate(104). The OR gate(104) generates a predetermined logic signal, or a high signal. An alarm collector(106) supplies pre-stored alarm data to an operator terminal(108). And the operator terminal(108) delivers a predetermined alarm message to external.
