摘要 PURPOSE: A microorganism capable of producing an excessive amount of L-glutamic acid under acidic condition and a method for producing L-glutamic acid in a high yield by fermentation of the microorganisms accompanied by precipitation are provided. CONSTITUTION: A microorganism, Enterobacter agglomerans, is capable of using carbon sources in a medium containing the saturated concentration of L-glutamic acid at a certain pH, and accumulating an excessive amount of L-glutamic acid in the medium at the same pH, wherein pH is below 5.0. The method for producing L-glutamic acid comprises the steps of: fermenting Enterobacter agglomerans in a pH adjusted broth to the precipitating point of L-glutamic acid; producing and accumulating L-glutamic acid; and precipitating L-glutamic acid in the broth.
