CIRCULAR KNITTING MACHINE WITH REPLACEABLE MEMBER FOR RESTRICTING VERTICAL MOVEMENT OF SINKERS

PURPOSE: A circular knitting machine having a readily replaceable restricting member within an annular receiving channel to restrict at least upward or downward movement of the sinkers is provided. The necessity for maintaining cleanly the upper area of a cylindrical portion by a pan and compressed air is at least partially reduced because a biased restricting member inhibits the movement of sinkers to the upper direction to prevent the formation of a sinker line in knitting fiber. CONSTITUTION: This knitting machine comprises: a cylindrical path; a plurality of sinkers(12) disposed to move radially along the related travel path at the upper part of a cylindrical portion(14); a channel formed at the upper part of the cylindrical path at the travel path of the sinkers; a slot(18) opened at the leading edge of each sinker and having the same height as the channel; and at least one replacement-type restricting member(26) engaged biasedly in the channel to at least partially receive the restricting member for restricting the unnecessary vertical movement of the sinkers at least one direction by slots during movement of sinkers to the radial direction.
