PURPOSE: A clamping distance adjusting method and a jig used thereof are to shorten a time required to adjust the distance and to prevent a defective of quality caused by the clamping distance by uniformly maintaining the distance. CONSTITUTION: A jig(50) for adjusting a clamping distance has a width larger than that of a lead frame strip(60). A fastening bolt(16) for fastening a fixing block(15,25) and a driving block(17,27) is unfastened to facilitate insertion of the jig into a widened distance between fixing rods and to present a playing space between the fixing blocks. After placing the jig at a position corresponding to a clamping position of the lead frame strip, the jig is fixed to an equipment by inserting a pin into a pin inserting hole(51) of the jig. Under a state that a tong(13,23) of a clamper(11,21) is stuck to the jig, the bolt is fastened at a specific location of a fastening hole(19,29) formed on the fixing block to fasten the fixing block and the driving block. By driving a cylinder rod(41,46) of a pneumatic cylinder(40,45) of the clamper, the driving block is rotated and the fixing block is spread to remove the jig.
