PURPOSE: To form a bunch winding by transferring the yarn from a full bobbin to an empty bobbin without damaging the yarn by moving the yarn between a contact roller and the empty bobbin to a bunch winding position outside of a winding width of the empty bobbin in a state of the contact roller and the empty bobbin separated from each another. CONSTITUTION: In the winding operation by a yarn winder 1, the yarn Y is traversed by the stroke of a traverse guide 12, and a winding package P is formed on an empty bobbin B on a winding position. When the yarn is fully wound on the bobbin, a turret is anticlockwisely rotated to switch the empty bobbin B and a full bobbin Bf respectively to yarn switching positions K1, K2. Then a yarn guide for holding a yarn layer is revolved to press the yarn Ya between the bobbins B, Bf, then a bunch winding guide 9 is introduced between a contact roller 6 and the empty bobbin B to control the yarn Yb by moving the same to the bunch winding position of the empty bobbin B. Then the yarn (a) is wound up onto the empty bobbin B by further revolving the yarn guide 8.
