The self-cleaning toilet seat (2) is connected at the rear to a ramp (5) in two sections (5A, 5B), the rear section (5A) having a steeper slope than the front section (5B). A water pipe (9) discharges water on to the top of the steeper section and the front of the less steep section feeds the water on to the underside of the seat where it rests on the toilet bowl (1).
