摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing methacrolein and methacrylic acid at a high yield and stably. CONSTITUTION: This composite oxide catalyst is represented by MoaWbBicFedAeBfCgDhEiOx (wherein, when A=Ni, Co; B=Na, K, Rb, Cs, Tl; C = an alkaline earth metal; D=P, Te, Sb, Sn, Ce, Pb, Nb, Mn, As, B, Zn; E=Si, Al, Ti, Zr; a=12, it is 0 <= b <= 10, 0 < c <= 10, 0 < d <= 10, 2 <= e <= 15, 0 < f <= 10, 0 <= g <= 10, 0 <= h <= 4, 0 <= i <= 30). In addition, the catalyst is highly reliable in terms of activity, selectivity and catalyst life and shows a stable performance for a long time. Further, the catalyst is used for manufacturing methacrolein and methacrylic acid by oxidizing in the gas phase at least one kind of chemical compound selected from a propylene, an isobutylene, a t-butanol and a methyl-t- butylether. In this case, the total nitrate group amount during preparing the catalyst is set within the range of 1 < NO3/Mo <= 1.8.
