The package body (2) has a perforated zone at one end, arranged in such a position that a straw (C) inserted through the perforated zone will extend for the full length of the package substantially parallel to the inner surface of the sealing cover (3). The body is formed from a layered thermoplastic material. The package body is formed as an elongate trough, with a sheet of sealing material attached to the open edges of the trough to define the closure cover. The perforated zone is defined by a series of perforations (4) in one end wall of the trough, with a sealing membrane (5) covering this area attached to the inner surface of the trough wall in such a way as to be detachable from the wall or rupturable when a drinking straw is pushed through the perforated zone.
