PURPOSE: A pneumatic tire for controlling the rigidity of a side wall freely varies the rigidity of side wall portion, thereby properly improving a ride comfort and a steering stability. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle runs with no load state when no voltage is applied on a piezoelectric film(4) on a consecutive straight running or a rough road surface. Thus, a snug ride comfort is realized by a low rigidity which a side wall portion(2) has. Further, on a high speed cornering, the rigidity of the side wall portion(2) is instantaneously increased by applying a voltage to the piezoelectric film(4), thereby securing a stable steering. Therefore, an optimum running condition is provided.
