PURPOSE: Provided is a synthetic material foam containing at least one water-swellable filler, which can be used for sealing openings of buildings connected to outside, especially openings carrying pipes and/or cables through walls, floors, and ceilings. CONSTITUTION: The synthetic material foam contains 1-40wt% of a water-swellable polymer as a water-swellable filler, wherein the water-swellable polymer is mono- or co-polymer of (meth)acrylic acid, (meth)acrylamide, and/or (meth)acrylate. The synthetic material foam is one-component-polyurethane foam, two-component-polyurethane foam, two-component-epoxy resin foam, and/or silicone foam.
