PURPOSE: A gas cock is provided to eliminate the need of the rotational fitting of a shut-off unit with a valve casing, to compact structure by using a cylindrical shut-off unit, to keep the airtightness between the shut-off unit and the valve casing, to close a gas passage, and to reduce production costs. CONSTITUTION: A gas cock has a shut-off unit(3) having three ring type grooves(33). O-rings(34) are mounted on the grooves. A valve member is installed on a push rod(4) penetrating through the shut-off unit. If an operating rod(5) is released after the ignition of gas, a pin(7) of the operating rod is guided into a cam groove(60) by the restoring force of a spring(54) for rebounding a flange(53) of the operating rod. An O-ring(43) in the front of the push rod retracts a small diameter portion(36) of the shut-off unit to a closing position and contacts with the inner face of the small diameter portion. Thus, the supply of gas to a pilot gas outlet(15) is stopped. Unless a main burner is turned off, a valve body(21) of an electronic safety valve(2) is kept in an open state according to the excitation of an electromagnet even if the push rod doesn't push the safety valve.
