PURPOSE: A method for processing IEEE 1394 loop is provided to maintain a 1394 network which is possible to be constructed without a reconstruction of a user and to increase a convenience regardless of a new node by installing a loop flag to recognize a loop when it is formed. CONSTITUTION: A process checks whether a loop is formed on IEEE 1394 network. The process recognizes on error when the loop is formed and then sets a loop error flag. The process initializes an old topology by resetting the same when each node is powered-on or after the loop error flag setting. The process uses a topology map as it is when the flag is set after the initialization; otherwise, invalidates the topology map. The process makes up the topology map to control a bus by using information required from a tree ID process and a self ID process after invalidating the topology map.
